Test Technician in Calibration Team

Chelsea Technologies is a market leading environmental sensor company working in a variety of industry sectors, including green shipping, marine science, water quality, defence and agritech.   We are looking for a highly efficient Test Technician to work in the Calibration Team.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain calibration laboratory (stock levels, hygiene standards etc) ensuring it meets current standards
  • Calibration of Chelsea Technologies sensors following standard operating protocols. Products can be found on chelsea.co.uk
  • Maintain quality control of calibration procedures and calibrated sensors
  • Produce and maintain calibration reports (certificates)
  • Conduct site visits to resolve sensor issues
  • Responsible for maintaining COSHH paperwork
  • Update calibration procedures and develop new calibration procedures for new sensors
  • Perform/develop calibration tests and experiments with new and existing sensors
  • Perform/support R&D projects (new and existing)
  • General support for Production (inspection/pressure testing etc)

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree (science, maths or analytical discipline preferred). However, candidates without a degree will be considered if they have sufficient laboratory experience gained in industry.

Skills and experience

Industry experience would be useful. Practical laboratory skills, including standard solution preparation, pipetting and maintaining laboratory apparatus is essential. The candidate must be able to work methodically and keep good records. Numerical articulate with  ability to write reports as required.

Character

Candidate must be a team player but also be able to act on own initiative. The candidate must be able to work methodically and pay great attention to detail. An ability to work well under pressure and to deadline is also required. The candidate must be keen to learn new skills and be comfortable working in a highly multidisciplinary environment, as the job will encompass a wide variety of products.

Hours: 37.5 hours Monday – Friday (between the operating hours of 8-9am and 4-5pm). This is an office-based role and is not suitable for hybrid working.

Security Clearance: Candidates must be suitable for security clearance via MoD UKSV. 5 years residency in the UK is essential to obtain clearance.
